How credits work: the complete guide to what things cost in boppi

One credit is about one cent. Here is exactly how a scene, a song, a voice-over and a full music video are priced, how refunds work, and how to keep a release under budget.

Pricing in generative tools is usually the last thing you find out and the first thing you regret. boppi takes the opposite view: the cost is on the button, in credits, before you click it. This guide explains where those numbers come from so you can plan a release instead of discovering it.

The unit

A credit is worth roughly one US cent. Plans include a monthly allowance (Starter: 1,300; Creator: 3,600; Pro: 10,500; Label: 29,000) that rolls over while you stay subscribed, and top-up packs never expire. The Free plan gives you 220 credits once — enough for a 30-second hook video at 768P on the Fast model, watermarked.

Video scenes

A scene is one generated clip of six or ten seconds. Its price depends on three things: the model, the duration and the resolution.

  • Hailuo 2.3 Fast: 40 credits for a 6-second 768P scene, 65 for 10 seconds, 70 for 6 seconds at 1080P, 25 at 512P.
  • Hailuo 2.3 and Hailuo 02 (best quality): 60 credits for 6 seconds at 768P, 115 for 10 seconds, 100 for 6 seconds at 1080P.
  • Ten-second scenes are 768P only — that is a model limit, not ours.
  • Prices sit at roughly two to two-and-a-half times what the models cost us to run, which is what keeps boppi alive without ads or data games.

So a 6-second 768P scene on Hailuo 2.3 Fast is 40 credits (about 40 cents), the same scene at 1080P on Hailuo 2.3 is 100 credits, and a 10-second 768P hero shot on the best model is 115 credits. The studio shows this number next to every Generate and Regenerate button.

A whole music video

Two small pipeline fees frame the scenes: storyboarding (beat analysis, section detection and the Director AI's shot list) is 5 credits, and each final render (beat-snapped cut, audio mux, one aspect ratio) is 10 credits; the 15-second hook teaser is free, and draft previews are free. Everything else is scenes.

total = 5 (storyboard) + scenes × videoCost(model, duration, resolution) + 10 (render)

0:30 hook, 6s scenes, Hailuo 2.3 Fast @ 768P → 5 + 5 × 40 + 10 = 215 credits ≈ $2.15
3:00 track, 6s scenes, Hailuo 2.3 Fast @ 768P → 5 + 30 × 40 + 10 = 1,215 credits ≈ $12.15
3:00 track, 6s scenes, Hailuo 2.3 @ 1080P → 5 + 30 × 100 + 10 = 3,015 credits ≈ $30.15

The calculator on the pricing page runs this formula live. A common workflow: draft the whole video on Fast at 768P, pick the eight scenes that matter most, and regenerate only those at 1080P. That typically lands a three-minute video between 1,400 and 1,800 credits — $14 to $18 — with the money spent where viewers actually look.

Songs and voices

  • A full song with Music 3.0 or Music 2.6: 30 credits, regardless of length up to five minutes.
  • A cover (re-singing a reference you own): 40 credits.
  • Speech 2.8 HD and 2.6 HD: 25 credits per 1,000 characters, minimum 1 credit. Turbo tiers are 15 per 1,000.
  • Voice cloning from a sample: 300 credits, one time per voice. Voice Design (a new voice from a text description): 450 credits.
  • Release kit: 10 credits per extra format (9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5); the hook teaser is always free.

Reservations and refunds

When you start a job, its cost is reserved — it leaves your available balance so you cannot accidentally overspend — but it is only settled when the job succeeds. If the model errors, the job times out, or the output fails moderation, the reservation is released and the ledger shows a matching refund line. You never pay for a failure, and you never have to file a ticket to get the credits back.

Bring your own MiniMax key

If you already have a MiniMax account, paste its API key in Settings. Generations are then billed to MiniMax at their rates and boppi charges only the pipeline fees (2 for storyboarding, 5 for rendering). The studio shows a “your key” badge instead of a credit cost on those buttons so it is always clear who is paying.

Keeping a release under budget

  1. Analyse first. Storyboarding is 5 credits and tells you how many scenes the track needs before you commit to any of them.
  2. Draft on Fast at 768P. It is a third cheaper than the best model and good enough to judge composition and motion.
  3. Regenerate scenes, not videos. Fixing one shot costs one shot.
  4. Upgrade selectively. Put 1080P where the camera lingers — the intro, the chorus drop, the final shot.
  5. Use Mock mode to learn the interface. It costs nothing and every feature works.
